Description
Students will review President Andrew Johnson and Reconstruction by answering 5 academic questions about Johnson's presidency. Then they will "interview" Johnson right after his inauguration (5 questions and answers). In the third part they conduct his last interview on his deathbed (6 questions and answers), and the final task is a bonus creative opportunity. An answer key is included where appropriate. This would work for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Was Johnson right to declare Reconstruction over at the end of 1865? Why or why not?
--Discuss how this political cartoon relates to Johnson as a president.
--What is the most important item on your presidential agenda?
--What would you like your legacy to be?
--Had you not been brought to trial, what else might you have accomplished, or tried to accomplish?
