President James K. Polk Activity

Students will complete a 3 part activity to review President Polk and his presidency. The first part has 5 questions to help students review factual parts of Polk's time in office. In the second part of the activity students "interview" Polk right after his inauguration (5 questions and answers), in the third part they conduct his last interview on his deathbed (5 questions and answers), and the last task is a bonus creative opportunity. An answer key is included and this would work for a sub!

Sample questions include: 
--Why was it so important for Polk to make California, and especially San Francisco harbor, an American possession?
--Write a paragraph representing how Polk approached Congress to ask for a declaration of war against Mexico. What issues would he have brought up, what justifications would have have cited?
--What is the most important item on your presidential agenda?
--What do you think will be your biggest challenge in achieving your goals?
--Do you have any regrets from your time in office?
