Description
An annotated timeline is an excellent way to help your students organize important events related to the American Revolution.
This project begins with a PowerPoint that introduces the guidelines for students. The PowerPoint also identifies fifteen (15) important events related to the American Revolution. Students are then given an opportunity to research, identify the date, and construct an annotation for each event. Information can be written down on the graphic organizer included with the download. Once the students have completed their research, viola! Students have a user-friendly reference sheet. The PowerPoint also includes a few examples students can use to consider how they wish to create their poster.
Students will then use the reference sheet to construct a timeline. The guidelines provided with the download lead students through step-by-step.
I have also created a project rubric for teachers to assess completed posters. The rubric can be distributed to the students ahead of time to use as a "checklist" and ensure that their work meets standards.
Finally, as it is an important part of any project, the download includes a critique sheet that students can use to assess both their own performance and those of their partner(s).
I have used this project with my own students, and they did a wonderful job with it. I know you will love it, too!
The PowerPoint is saved in Office 97-2003. The graphic organizer, guidelines, and rubric have been uploaded as a PDF. Instructors can fill in due date and points available as needed.
