Redistricting-Gerrymandering Game

This product is designed to teach students the concepts of reapportionment, redistricting, and gerrymandering as it pertains to the United States Congress. This resource includes 2 prior knowledge questions about those important concepts and then presents students with a task. The task asks students to do the following:

• Go to http://www.redistrictinggame.org and play a series of missions about the redistricting process in the United States.
• The website links to a game that students will play in which they see redistricting and gerrymandering in action.
• In some portions of the game, students themselves will have the opportunity to redistrict and if necessary gerrymander themselves.

This product also includes response questions related directly to the game and the redistricting process. This is a great resource to use for teaching a difficult concept such as redistricting and gerrymandering. This provides a hands-on experience for students to complete the process legislators complete themselves.

This product includes a Microsoft Word and PDF version of the resource. It is designed to be used online or printed for students.
