Description
All of the elements of the learning process are included in this interactive Hyperdoc that explores the rise of the Roman Republic. Students develop an understanding of the different social classes in Rome, and learn about the plebeian battle for political equality.
In this activity:
1) Engage: Students listen to a song describing life for patricians and plebeians, and answer questions about what they learned.
2) Explore: Students explore a variety of resources to learn about the differences between life in the upper class and life in the lower class.
3) Explain: Students explain various terms related to the Roman Republic, including republic, Twelve Tables, consuls, and the Senate.
4) Elaborate: Students explore the Twelve Tables and analyze what they showed about society in Rome.
5) Evaluate: Students evaluate the similarities between the republic in the United States and Rome. They then argue for which government system they think is the most democratic.
