Description
Students will read and analyze Teddy Roosevelt's New Nationalism and Woodrow Wilson's New Freedom speeches by answering 30 questions (including looking at similarities and differences between them) and completing 2 extension tasks. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Explain the essence of the current struggle in your own words.
--What does TR stand for in the Square Deal?
--Inferring from the text, what are some examples of these special interests?
--Describe the role, or significance, of the servant.
--Explain the duty that Americans have to cleanse their society.
--What does Wilson believe it takes for there to be equality of opportunity?
--Identify what has come at the cost of humanity. Was it worth it, why or why not?
--Summarize the last paragraph in your own words. What is Wilson’s overarching message?
--If you could re-title each speech, what would you choose and why?
--If each speech had a hook, what would it be and why?
