Description
Science Experiment: Designing a Fair Test is short science unit for middle years students that requires very little prep by the teacher. It is completely laid out with teacher notes and a sequence of activities. The culminating activity for the unit will be an opportunity for students to complete an experiment report on their own or with a partner.
In this activity, they will formulate a fair test question, make a hypothesis, plan a fair test, gather their own materials, consider variables to hold constant, conduct their test, include safety considerations, make observations, record and analyze data, consider strengths and weaknesses of their approach, state conclusions, and consider applications or links to daily life.
