Science Tools Lab Stations

Target learning: Learn and discover all the tools that they will be using during the school year and what the tools does or measures

Start the school year out with introducing all the tools that the students will be using during all the labs you will be doing for the school year.

This lab has 6 stations for the students to move around the room and practicing using the droppers, rulers, meter sticks, graduated cylinders, meter sticks, and pan balance

Students are so excited to get their hands on all the tools at the beginning of the school year. This will hope all the other labs go smoother because the students will already know how to use the tool.

The lab and practice page is a fold-able lab sheet that can be glued into their science spiral or science journal. Instructions on printing the pages is included

Materials needed for the stations:

Stations 1

• Dropper/ pipet for each person
• Penny for each person
• Paper towels
• water

Stations 2

• Balance Scale
• Book to measure

Stations 3

• 1-2 Rulers

Stations 4

• Graduated cylinder
• Rock that fits into the cylinder
• beaker of water/ funnel
• 1 unit cube to show the size of a milliliter

Stations 5

• 1-4 Meter sticks

Stations 6

• Pan balance
• Ball (tennis or golf ball)

Optional tools to show the students what they will be working with during the school year and what the tool does: Hand lenses, stopwatch, spring scale, tongs, goggles, Beakers, nets, Microscopes, hot plates, magnets, notebooks, aquariums, Aprons, calculators, cameras, thermometers, Prisms, mirrors, gloves, Flasks, test tubes, test tube holders, etc.
