Scientific Notation - Addition and Subtraction

Once students know how to write numbers in correct scientific notation, they can move on to adding and subtracting these numbers. This highly scaffolded lesson, gives students practice with each step of the process, from determining the smallest exponent, to subtracting the exponents, to changing their exponents so they are the same. The final slide offers students a challenge problem involving negative exponents. Teacher Key and instructions included.
