Description

Need a 7th grade math review activity on solving equations involving rational numbers? Team Target Review is a cooperative and competitive activity designed to get students thinking, talking, and working together.

Teams of 2-4 students work together to complete increasing levels of difficulty on solving single variable equations involving rational numbers. Each student solves one of the questions in a round, then they use all of the solutions to answer the "meta" question at the bottom. If correct, the next more challenging round is unlocked. If incorrect, the group must work together to figure out what went wrong, and how to fix it.

This activity works great as an engaging review session before an assessment, a quick(ish) activity on one of those pesky minimum days where you have limited time, or as part of a block period when you want to break up the direct instruction.

This activity includes:

  • Suggested activity instructions (based on how I run this in my classroom).
  • 6 rounds with 4-6 problems each on solving equations
  • Complete worked out solutions for each round.
  • Teacher Quick Reference Answer Sheet
