Description
Sorting and categorizing is an important process skill in Social Studies! When taking cumulative history assessments (such as STAAR), questions presented are not usually in chronological order. Students must be able to mentally connect the various dates, names, events, and documents to the correct era of history. Greater fluency in this area will make a huge difference as they approach long exams!
This activity is completed digitally via Google Slides. Students will drag and drop the boxes to the correct era to which they belong (see preview image). There are 4 different slides included with different names, dates, events, and documents on each. You could choose to assign all 4 slides, or assign them to different students as Version 1, Version, 2, etc.
This activity is currently set up to review important info from all eras of U.S. History to 1877 (8th Grade Texas TEKS). HOWEVER, the gray drag-and-drop boxes are all editable, in case you want to tweak the events that I have included. There is also a completely editable template included, in case you teach a different history subject such as U.S. since 1877, Texas History or World History, and need different labels on the eras. This activity will work for those subjects too!
If using this activity for U.S. History to 1877, download my Free Timeline of Eras posters to go with it!
