Description
A set of 7 puzzles that have students practice critical thinking skills and apply concepts related to Newton's 2nd law, determining net force from a diagram, balancing forces from a net force diagram, determining if forces are balanced or unbalanced, using the speed formula, and calculating acceleration.
The puzzles are designed to align with the NGSS physical science standards.
Usage Recommendations: These worksheets are versatile and can be utilized for independent practice, in stations, as homework assignments, or as part of emergency substitute teacher plans for unexpected schedule changes.
NGSS Standard Addressed:
- MS-PS-2-2 Plan an investigation to provide evidence that the change in an object’s motion depends on the sum of the forces on the object and the mass of the object.
- Snow Sports Hidden Message Students use the speed formula S=D/T to calculate speed, distance, and time for a set of word problems. Includes two different versions, one that does not require figuring out the proper units and one that does. Supports MS-PS-2-2
- Skier Message Students have to determine if the net force diagram is balanced or unbalanced. Supports MS-PS-2-2
- Snowman Hidden Message Students use the acceleration formula a=(Vf-Vi)/t to calculate acceleration for a set of 9 questions Supports MS-PS-2-2
- Snowy Hidden Message Students use Newton’s 2nd law F=MA to calculate mass, force, and acceleration for a set of word problems. Includes two different versions, one that does not require figuring out the proper units and one that does. Supports MS-PS-2-2
- Net Force Hidden Message Students solve net force diagrams to determine the net force and the direction of the unbalanced force. Supports MS-PS-2-2
- Net Force Equilibrium Hidden Message Students solve net force diagrams to determine the missing force to put the object into equilibrium (net force = 0N) *This is offered as a Free Sample in my store. Supports MS-PS-2-2
- Sledding Logic Puzzle Students use Newton’s 2nd law F=MA and clues from the text to calculate mass, force, and acceleration to solve a logic puzzle Supports MS-PS-2-2
