Here's a short video showing the popup house.
For each card, you will need to supply: one LED, one 3V button battery and about 12 inches of copper tape. Students will also need glue, scissors, and tape. This product was designed for teachers on a budget! It's possible to supply an entire class with materials for every student to make their own light-up card for less than $20 in all.
This is a really fun STEAM project and students delight in making and taking this home to their families. It's perfect hands-on science for a unit on electricity and magnetism and fun Halloween-themed STEM. The pre-decorated version is a sweet spooky theme (jack o'lanterns, skeletons, witches, black cats, bats, haystacks, and a roaring fire inside) so it's suitable for all students. The LED inside represents the bubbly cauldron in the fireplace! It's perfect for October or any slightly scary-themed lesson and when finished, display as Halloween decorations! It also comes with a template and instructions for a blank house which can be decorated however you like—whether for Halloween or not.
