Squares and Cubes contains three lessons about squares and cubes created to align with Section 5 of the Numbers Unit in the new Alberta Grade 7 math curriculum. Each lesson begins with instructions and examples to introduce new concepts. After that, the teacher can do a few practice questions with the class. At this point, students are ready to do questions on their own. Each lesson ends with an optional challenge question. Answer keys are included.
This resource includes two interactive digital mini lessons about squares and cubes as both shapes and numbers. A digital math game called “Exponent Race” can be used as a warm-up activity or for review. Four optional digital math problems, related to squares and cubes, are also included. A quiz is available for student assessment.
