Description
When teaching altered states of consciousness, one must address the role that drugs play in society. Instead of telling kids that drugs are bad, this lesson helps them come to their own conclusions about the psychological, mental, and economic effects of drugs on the United States, past and present. It includes four resources for close reads, a jigsaw activity with graphic organizer, and a summative writing activity that asks them to state their conclusion and support with evidence. This also includes two posters to distinguish what is expected of the "expert" and "teaching" groups during a jigsaw.
