Description

This is a ready to use STEM challenge using the story Green Eggs and Ham. This is a fun STEM activity for Read Across America Week. After reading the story, students are asked to engineer a spatula to help flip as many green eggs into the pan as they can within one minute!!! This is just a fun Engineering STEM Challenge!! This lesson gives you information about the book, links to videos for the book, and then video links for kiddos to learn more about what a second, minute, and hour are. Then it gives you the challenge, suggested materials, and guides you through the process of getting kids ready to complete the challenge. This one is set-up to be used with Kindergarten or 1st grade, or even 2nd grade. I use the book as the hook and then turn the problem into our STEM challenge. I have my students for 45 minutes at a time. Please feel free to share any feedback. I have more resources if you feel this one was helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my resources!

This resources includes the following:

*Links to the story (for hooking your students)

*Links to video on why kids should read!

*Links to video on what one minute is in relation to time.

*Challenge

*Constraints

*Materials list

*Planning

*Printable eggs for flipping into the pan for testing

I create these resources to be used in my own classroom! I teach from this very same file! It is a good visual for students and if you were to be observed by administration. It helps to guide you with the lesson and gives the students a visual of what is expected. I work super hard on these lessons because I want my students to be engaged, have fun, and enjoy learning while they are in my classroom! I try to create real-world lessons where students have to engineer and design the solution.
It also gives them something to take home to hopefully explain the "process" of what they learned to adults at home! Please feel free to ask my questions and leave helpful feedback!! Thank you so much!!!
