Student Led Closing Task Cards

The closing is often said to be the most important part of a lesson. I believe in student-led closings, and these task cards are perfect for guiding student discussions. Students work in their groups to come up with an answer, and then share with the entire class. Not every group shares everyday. But many times students start conversations that leave me in awe. I use these in my 7th grade classroom, but you can use them in any middle and high school classroom.

These task cards have 24 (mostly) open-ended questions your students can use to guide the closing. They will be summarizing, questioning, and discussing with each other.

I laminate the cards so students can use them over and over. I give the first group a small ball, and they choose who speaks next by tossing it to someone with his/her hand up. But there are so many ways to use these cards!
