Description

Students will read and analyze 6 points of view on who can vote and why during the Antebellum Era by answering 36 questions and completing 2 tasks. Three sources focus on property ownership as a requirement for suffrage and 3 touch on other groups/beliefs. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:

--Explain the meaning of the phrase, “idol of universal suffrage.”
--Why does Kent hold landholders in such high regard?
--How does the author see America as having “grown” since achieving independence?
--Right from the start, is Camp for or against expanding suffrage and why?
--Which point made was the strongest for restricting suffrage and why?
--Which point made was the strongest for expanding suffrage and why?
