Description

Students will read 14 quotes about different aspects of Antebellum reform movements (abolition, temperance, women's rights, etc), analyze 7 images, and answer 26 questions. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate.

Sample questions include:
--Which reformer of the era would have shared similar views as this excerpt?
--Provide a historical context for the excerpt above.
--Could the platform excerpt be considered hypocritical, why or why not?
--Does the Albany newspaper support the efforts of “the women in several parts of this State,” why or why not?
--Did the government help or hinder Garrison’s reform efforts? Explain your answer thoroughly.
--Re-write Thoreau’s quote in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
--Compare and contrast Beecher and Grimke’s points of view regarding women’s role in society/rights in the Antebellum Era. Which would have more enthusiastically supported the 19th Amendment’s ratification and why?
