Description

This T.E.K.S. resource set will help you answer a simple question... “What does this standard mean that a student must know and be able to do?” ALL of the 8th grade readiness and supporting standards come "unpacked" and broken down in the TEKS Resource Binder, a student checklist for TEKS broken down by unit of study, TEKS signs to display, and "We Will Learn To" and "I Can" statement signs using 8th grade U.S. History Texas standards. This is a MUST for Texas teachers to ensure you understand specifically what the new standards mean a student must know, understand and be able to do in 8th grade U.S. History classes. This is a great TEKS resource set to ensure that you have TEKS-centered lessons. (See Preview Video For Samples)

TEKS RESOURCE BINDER:

This 8th grade U.S. History T.E.K.S. binder, and lesson planner breaks down and "unpacks" the TEKS in a manner that is easy to understand and use for American History and Social Studies classes in Texas. This resource set (194 pages) covers 8th grade U.S. History (Exploration through Reconstruction).

I personally print, hole punch, and put it into a binder (with page protectors for the TEKS pages) to use for PLCS and for planning purposes.

This product will help any U.S. History teacher in Texas, but especially if you are new to the content or homeschooling.

US History 8th Grade TEKS Checklists and Signs:

Give this TEKS checklist to your 8th grade social studies Texas students at the beginning of each new unit. Read and discuss the TEKS with your classes so that you are transparent in your expectations and learning intentions.

This product includes an explanation of what TEKS are and why they matter! In addition, you will receive a checklist with each TEK from each unit for students to check off as they grow confident in their understanding of this unit. (This can also help you as a teacher insure that you are hitting each TEK before each unit exam.)

This 43 page product includes the knowledge, skills, and technology standards for the entire year (Exploration through Reconstruction) for Texas 8th grade U.S. History teachers.

--------------------------------------------------

Display these TEKS signs as reminders of what they are learning in class today! I believe that students understanding the TEKS for the course is essential for them succeeding on the STAAR test.

I personally tape a few page protectors to my white board at the beginning of the year and slide in the TEKS sign(s) for the day! Not only does this help students focus on their learning goal for the day, but your admin will be impressed and you won't have to research and write the TEKS down each day!

These TEKS signs cover Early America through the Era of Reconstruction (1877) in American History classes in Texas.

"We Will Learn To..." & "I Can" TEKS-Based Statement Signs:

Display these no-prep, ready-to-go American History learning intentions/objectives and success criteria signs on your board!

"We will learn to..."

"I can..."

I personally tape a few page protectors to my white board at the beginning of the year and slide in the sign(s) for the day! Not only does this help students focus on their learning goal for the day, but your admin will be impressed, and you won't have to spend time writing down and planning your learning intentions/objectives and success criteria statements down each day!

These signs cover Early America through the Era of Reconstruction (1877) in American History classes in Texas.
