Description

Students analyze 13 documents (4 images and 9 text), answer 13 historical context questions, complete a sorting chart, and write a DBQ essay to review the Texas Republic. There are 5 essay prompts for students to choose from (one allows for the class or teacher to make one of their own). The answers are included where appropriate and the initial analysis part would be great for a sub!  ***Some of the sourcing is generalized so that students have to place it in the historical context/event themselves.***

 Sample questions include:
--Give an example of one of the difficulties Houston could have been referring to. Rewrite the rest of his quote in your own words to demonstrate understanding
--Did Anson Jones support or oppose annexation and why?
--Identify a primary cause and effect of the Archive War.
--Write one word for what Lamar is referring to, and then explain why he places such an importance on it.
--Identify the event being described in Document 13 and its historical significance.
