Description

Students analyze 15 documents (5 images and 9 text), answer 15 historical context questions, complete a sorting chart, and write a DBQ essay to review the causes of the Texas Revolution. There are 6 essay prompts for students to choose from (one allows for the class or teacher to make one of their own). The answers are included where appropriate and the initial analysis part would be great for a sub! ***Some of the sourcing is generalized so that students have to place it in the historical context/event themselves.***

 Sample questions include:
--Explain how the Fredonian flag foreshadows the Texas Revolution.
--What specifically is Austin recommending in Document 4 and why?
--How does de Cos defend the actions and decisions of the Mexican government in 1835?
--Identify the reasons in the Turtle Bayou Excerpts for Anglo-Americans in Texas beginning to fight.
--Re-write Document 12 in your own words to demonstrate understanding.
--How did geography support Texas’ movement for independence but also work against it?
--Summarize the cause and effect of Document 15.
