Description

Students will read and analyze 3 accounts of the Battle of Gettysburg from the American Civil War by answering 30 questions. They will then answer 7 overarching and compare and contrast questions. Lastly, they will complete 2 extension tasks. This can be used as a complete packet, a jigsaw, or be divided into stations.

The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Why might he have been unable to speak the order?
--How does Longstreet, in the last paragraph, contradict Pickett in the prior few sentences?
--Identify the main point of the 4th paragraph. Do you think this was an anomaly during the war, why or why not?
--Explain a cause and effect of friendly fire removing a, “brutal officer” from battle.
--Write a contextually appropriate synonym, or definition, for “essayed.”
--Why had so few men received medical treatment?
--How did this experience compare to the war to this point for Imboden? Why do you think that was the case?
--What might have been most different about each account if they had been from a regular foot soldier’s point of view?
--Can one account be considered the most accurate, why or why not?
