The goal of this lesson is for students to compare and assess the achievements/characteristics of different River Valley Civilizations

Activity Instructions:
For the activity, there are 2 different resources
  • Resource #1- Bullet points on each River Valley Civilization (973 words total, about 250 words each)
  • Resource #2 – Readings on each River Valley Civilization (1588 words total, about 400 words each)
Using these resources, there are five different activity options

Activity Option 1 – Matching Worksheet
Using a word bank of 28 terms/facts, students place the fact/achievement with the correct civilization.
 
Activity Option 2 – Question sheet
Students select a River Valley Civilization and answer the comprehension, comparison, and analysis questions.
 
Activity Option 3 – Comparison Chart
Students complete the chart by selecting 2 River Valley Civilizations and comparing different parts of their societies.
 
 
Activity Option 4 – Scavenger Hunt Worksheet
Students search through the resources to complete various tasks on the Scavenger Hunt worksheet.
 
Activity Option 5- Create Your Own Civilization
Students create their own civilization by borrowing the best characteristics and achievements from the different River Valley Civilizations.
 
Keys/Examples are provided for each activity option!
