The Giving Tree Activity & Comprehension Tool Kit

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein can be used to teach about friendship, caring, as well as used for studies in science (plants/apples) and social studies (communities/wants and needs). This toolkit includes graphic organizers, comprehension and higher level thinking questions, writing, art and bulletin board template. It also includes a segment to use in science for a lesson an apples and seeds (students in group/interactive) and in social studies to review or introduced wants and needs in communities. There are worksheets as well as suggestions for working with students as a whole group and small group centers. This packet includes a link to a read-aloud of book which can be used solely or in addition to teacher reading book at beginning of study.
