The Roman Gladiator Games
The main objective of this lesson is for students to analyze and describe various perspectives of the Gladiator Games in Ancient Rome
For the Activity there are two different options.
Includes a 13 slide PowerPoint with:
- Do Now
- Class Notes
- Video Links
- Assessment Questions
- Activity Instructions
- Conclusion Questions
Option 1:
Students analyze 8 sources. Based on these sources students determine if the Romans enjoyed or disliked the gladiator games. They can use the source worksheet or the graphic organizer to record their responses. Sources are fairly short and quick to analyze. This activity would be best for younger grades or lower level students.
Option 2:
Students analyze 6 sources and answer the analysis questions based on them. Students can also complete an organizer that asks them to focus on 3 different perspectives: Emperors/Leaders, The Roman People, and Roman Philosopher Seneca.
Documents and questions for this version are more challenging so it is recommended for higher grades or advanced students.
