Description
Although the founding fathers designed the office of the presidency to be remarkably less powerful than that of the legislative branch, the office of the president has grown in its power tremendously since its early conception. Some of this strength is a result of its inherent potential, sometimes it’s because of the historical situation itself and other times its merely because of the personality of the president himself.
This six page writing activity contains information regarding various president's expansion of power. Students take notes while annotating and then are asked to write an essay response which analyzes how and why such expansion of powers might have exceeded the original intent of the framers..
