Description
Students will watch and analyze a 5 minute video on the building of the Panama Canal (causes, challenges, course, effects, and more) by answering 24 questions and completing a creative task. The answers are included where appropriate and the video is from TedEd.
Sample questions include:
--How does the Isthmus of Panama connect to the gold rush?
--When did the first attempt at building the canal take place and under whose direction/leadership?
--What were the workers not prepared for and why?
--Why was Panama eager to complete the canal?
--Summarize what happened in 1903.
--Explain how the canal engineers/builders ensured there would be enough water to utilize the lock system.
