The main objective of this lesson is to have students describe causes, effects and strategies of the Peloponnesian war

There are 3 different options for the activity each based on two readings.
- Reading 1: Causes and Effects of The Peloponnesian War (630 words)
- Reading 2: The Peloponnesian War: Athens vs. Sparta (850 words)
Activity Option 1: Advantages and Disadvantages Worksheet
Students assess and describe the advantages and disadvantages of each side.
Activity Option 2: Cause and Effects Chart
Students describe the Causes of the War, Strategies of Athens, Strategies of Sparta, and Effects of the War on Greece.
Activity Option 3: Effects Organizer
Students are given different events/facts on the Peloponnesian War and must describe the impacts/outcomes of them. Two versions available for differentiation.
- Version A – 6 Events/Facts
- Version B – 8 Events/Facts
