Description
Students will watch and analyze an almost 6 minute video about the rise and fall of the Sumerians and their historical significance by answering 24 questions and completing an extension task. The answers are included where appropriate. The video is from TedEd.
Sample questions include:
--What was an immediate challenge facing those who lived where Sumer would emerge? Why was that a challenge?
--Identify a technological advancement that facilitated the growth of cities.
--Can 4500 B.C.E. be considered a turning point in Sumerian history, why or why not?
--Where were priests/priestesses in Sumer’s social pyramid?
--How did the Sumerians compensate for gaps in locally available resources?
--How is Sumer still “present” in today’s society?
