Description
Students will learn about the causes, course, and effects of McCarthyism and the Second Red Scare by watching and analyzing a 5 and a half minute TedEd video, answering 28 questions, and completing a creative task. The answers are included where appropriate.
Sample questions include:
--How does the video categorize, or classify, McCarthy?
--Who opposed the communists in America?
--Explain the reason(s) why domestic communism was seen as a threat to national security.
--Who was at risk for being caught up in McCarthyism?
--What role did J. Edgar Hoover have in McCarthyism?
--Explain the connection between McCarthy and the start of the Korean War.
