Description
All these resources go with and then extend this story-lecture from History For Humans: The Lusitania & Causes of America Entering World War I
This story-lecture teaches the amazing story of the Lusitania, how Britain was battling with Germany for supremacy of the cruise-line industry long before WWI, and what happened the day it was attacked and sunk. This is the first episode of my World War I unit and comes with an interactive notesheet, google form or PDF quiz, and an extension lesson plan that has the students first complete a quick reading reviewing America's entry into WWI, what propaganda is and how it was used during the war, and then has students create a mini-propaganda poster focused on the Lusitania. You can decide to teach both or just one of them, depending on your needs but both are available and so are answer keys for everything! Download and breathe!
The video is designed to teach students so they learn, understand, and remember through the power of story with vocabulary support. Besides the dramatic story of the Lusitania, it also teaches the causes of the war, America's neutrality, and what events moved America to war like the Zimmerman Note and the Sussex Pledge.
