The main goal of this lesson is for students to analyze documents to assess whether Islam spread through conquest or other peaceful methods.

Resource – For all activity options, students will use a 6 document DBQ on the spread of Islam
- Activity Option 1: Students answer the comprehension and analysis questions based on the documents
- Activity Option 2: Using the DBQ, students complete the organizer by describing different factors that led to Islam’s Spread
- Activity Option 3: Students complete the organizer by selecting 4 Documents and determining if they best represent Islam spreading through conquest or peaceful methods
- Activity Option 4: Students create arguments for one, or both perspectives, using examples and evidence from the documents
