The Travels of Ibn Battuta Reading

The Travels of Ibn Battuta Primary Source Reading This is an excellent resource to include with your unit on West Africa or Mali!

In this reading, students will read two excerpts from Ibn Battuta's travels. The first excerpt is from the The Saltworks at the Oasis of Taghaza and the second is Ibn Battuta Meets the King of Mali.

This reading comes with a total of 7 questions to check for comprehension of the reading. The best yet, it comes with an ANSWER KEY to make grading easy for you!

I also included an A4 paper size version for those of you who live outside of the US (like me). I know how frustrating it can be for students when they receive large amounts of text to read, so I intentionally made this a one page reading!

Whether you assign this as homework or do it together as a class, this is an excellent supplement to use while you teach about Ibn Battuta.
