Description
If you want to make sure your students understand and enjoy The Wild Robot, this novel study can help. When I lead a book study with students, my two main goals are to:
1. Give them opportunities to think and discuss
2. Help them love literature.
This novel study gives students the chance to think about the story and express themselves by doing more than recalling factual details. They will get plenty of practice putting their thoughts into writing since there are no multiple choice questions. They will think about characters, motivations, and plot development. They will also have numerous opportunities to express opinions and rate the book at the end.
The digital version is completely paperless, since students type answers directly into the digital notebook. It includes some links (a video about how geese migrate and an inside look at how Peter Brown brought the book to life) as well as a few opportunities for students to search for photos on line. If you prefer an interactive paper notebook, a black and white printable version is also included. Both versions include a detailed answer key. For open-ended questions, various possible answers are offered.
It can be used by students as they independently read The Wild Robot at home or at school, or it can be used in the classroom as a guided reading experience for a literature group, partners, or the entire class. There is also an instruction sheet to make assigning this product in Google Classroom easy, which also includes a direct link to the Google Slides product.
This product includes:
•A link to the Google Slides which can be easily shared with students
•Printable pages that can be stapled together and used as interactive notebooks
•A detailed answer key for both versions
•Instructions
•Suggestions for use
•Post-reading follow up activities
