Description

Welcome! This listing features a full-page unit test about thermal energy and heat for middle school physical science students.

There are five sections on the test. I summarized the learning targets for each section below.
  • Students will identify the phase change for each scenario, record the starting and final physical state, and indicate whether the process absorbs or releases thermal energy
  • Students will solve two specific heat problems. I included both the straight line formula and the triangle method diagram, along with the text box that breaks down the meaning of the variables in the equation at the top of the page.
  • Students will then identify whether the heat transfer example is conduction, convection, or radiation. I included the definitions of the three terms at the top of the page for an accommodation if your students need it.
  • Students will match key terms with their definition.
  • Students will then label a blank phase diagram using a word bank and then answer four analysis questions
This PDF document will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC program. I provided a complete key with the answers in red font.
