Student will also read primary/secondary documents that introduce them to the ideas of William Graham Sumner, Andrew Carnegie, Washington Gladden, Billy Sunday, Dwight Moody and more...
Students will:
1) Read each primary/secondary source document (excerpt) to understand the differences between Social Darwinism, the Social Gospel Movement and the Gospel of Wealth
2) While examining documents A-G, students can answer the Comprehension Check Questions, for each document, on paper or orally discuss with a partner.
3) Students will then complete their graphic organizers to record information that will answer the overall question: Should the poor be helped and how did supporters of Social Darwinism, the Social Gospel Movement and the Gospel of Wealth want to help the poor?
4) EXIT CARD- students can complete a create exit card/ assessment activity to gauge their understanding! (Included)
