Thank you for your interest in
Map the Maximum Speed Limit in the United States
from
Happy Hive Homeschooling / Homeschool Holiday.com.
Our products are designed to coordinate with fun holidays throughout the year. This packet is designed to accompany 55MPH Day, January 2.
It also makes a great mini mapping lesson for the 5o states.
The first pages ask learners to color the states according to the color chart that identifies the speed limit. Classroom teachers may want to save paper and project that page.
Have learners begin by drawing a large star on their state.
Alternatively you can use the blank map of the US provided, and have learners fill in the states , use their abbreviations, or simply color by code to indicate understanding.
I have also included pages so learners can design their own speed limit signs. One contains the words SPEED LIMIT and one is blank. I recommend printing these on cardstock, or mounting them to construction paper when finished.
You can easily turn this into a writing activity by asking learners to write about why they think the speed limit they picked is beneficial to society. Is their speed limit for the bikes in the neighborhood, skateboards, cars, etc. Be creative with the assignment. There are a few inspirational writing papers to spark creativity.
Finally learners can match the speedometer and the speed limit sign in a "Memory Game" then focus on their handwriting (trace, print or cursive) with some inspirational copywork relating to Speed Limits.
You can find many other unique Holiday Themed learning activities in the Homeschool Holiday shop!
May your Educational Journey Be Blessed!
