US Imperialism Quote and Image Analysis

Students will read 8 quotes about American Imperialism from various points of view, analyze 8 images, and respond to 17 questions. This would be great for a sub and the answers are included where appropriate. 

Sample questions include:
--What motivated America(ns) in 1896? Do you think it was universal among the public, why or why not?
--What is the destiny upon America? Compare and contrast it with the earlier Manifest Destiny.
--Identify the tone(s) in the quote above. Inferring from prior knowledge, why are such slurs and accusations being hurled at Americans? Are they warranted, why or why not?
--How accurate is the phrase, “the Philippines has dropped into our laps,” and why? What could have been the motivation behind using that phrase? 
--Inferring from the text, does TR want to annex Santo Domingo, why or why not?
