US Physical Geography and 13 Colonies Maps - Print & Digital

This is a great activity to do with your students at the beginning of your US History or APUSH class! Whether your students are from the States or you are teaching these classes abroad, this is a good refresher/introduction to the geography of the States.

I usually give this out at the beginning of the year so students can become more familiar with the geography we will be referencing throughout the course.

Using Google Classroom in your class? NO PROBLEMJust look at the Terms of Use for the link to the editable Google Slides version of this resource.

What's included?

PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY MAP - Students will need to label the following:
● Rocky Mountains
● Sierra Nevada
● Pacific Ocean
● Mississippi River
● Long Island
● Atlantic Ocean
● Grand Canyon
● Cape Cod
● Appalachian Mountains
● The Great Lakes
● Gulf of Mexico
● Great Plains

*Please note that students will need to draw all of these physical features on the map.

13 COLONIES - Students will need to label the following:
● Georgia
● Delaware
● Rhode Island
● South Carolina
● New Jersey
● New York
● North Carolina
● Connecticut
● Pennsylvania
● Virginia
● Massachusetts
● Maryland
● New Hampshire

Students will also need to color code the colonies according to New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies.

Most textbooks should have maps at either the beginning or end of the book to help students complete this assignment. You can also find maps online to help with this.

I like to assign these maps as interactive notebook pages so the maps don't magically disappear as we go farther into the school year but you can use them the best way you see fit for your class!

Happy teaching! :)
