Climate Zones Throughout the World
The main goal of this lesson is for students to describe, assess, and compare the characteristics of different climates zones
This lesson is a simplified version of another climate zone lesson in my store. This lesson will only go through 4/5 Climate types. If you want a more detailed version that includes 10 different climate zones – CLICK HERE!

For the activity, 3 different resources of varying length
- Resource 1 – Reading about the different climate zones ( 796 words)
- Resource 2 – Informational Chart on the different climate zones ( 461 words)
- Resource 3 – Information Cards on different climate zones (200-250 words each)
Activity Option 1: Climate Zones Worksheet
Using the resources, students sort and label climate zones by their appearance, location, temperatures, population, etc.
Activity Option 2 - Box Chart Activity
- Students color in each climate zone on the map (this can be optional)
- On the box chart, they create a key for their map in the space provided
- Next, they describe where the climate can be found, along with its advantages/disadvantages
Activity Option 3: Match Up Activity
- In the boxes to the left/right, students compare 2 Climate zones and describe their characteristics:
- In the bottom box, students pick the Climate zone they feel is best/easier to live in and explain
- *A partially completed version of this activity is included for differentiation*
Activity Option 4: Picture Activity
Using the resources, students identify the climate shown in each picture and answer the analysis questions about that climate:
