World War Two - Evaluation Poster to assess learning

Developed to support assessment of historical knowledge within World War 2, we devised this Fact Map to enable children to record what they had learnt about different elements of World War 2 at the end of the topic.

It proved a useful assessment tool, as well as an incredible resource to display and share with parents. It provides fantastic evidence to support where the children are in their historical knowledge and elements of understanding of the causes of World War 2. It also provides an element of reflection in terms of Remembrance.

Whilst we used a hand drawn Fact Map, we have now reproduced this digitally for a greater professional feel. It is easy to use too! Once downloaded, print off and then enlarge to either A3 or A2 (the bigger the better) and let the children free to produce their own fact map. If your children are creative, they can add clip art, images or their own art work (poppies for remembrance, images of aircraft, shelters, flags for countries, images of world leaders) to make the piece an incredible end of unit project in itself - bringing all of their knowledge together in one place.

How can this resource be used?

• It can be used as an end of unit assessment piece - to evaluate what the children have learnt and share with parents (this is how we used the resource.
• It could also be used after each lesson as a review of each element - allowing the children to build it up over a period of time.
• It could also be used for an extended piece of homework!

Our children loved the creativity it afforded and allowed them all to produce very different pieces depending on their own skills and talents.
