Description
This lesson was created to celebrate and recognize Black History Month as well as expand on the knowledge of Medical History in general. The download comes with two activities:
"African American Medical Pioneers" Quiz Game:
This quiz-show style game highlights 13 African American doctors, nurses and engineers who. made an impact on healthcare in America.
There are three versions to choose from:

PowerPoint (18 slides total)- great for playing in a class or club meeting

Google Slides- for integrating into Google Classroom or playing in a classroom setting

Google Forms- students can use this set up as a quiz to complete individually at home or in the classroom and can research the answers.
Also included is an Answer Key with the slides printed for the teacher to use while presenting the game.
"African American Medical Pioneers" Research Project:
Because the game could not highlight the extensive list of African American medical pioneers who left a legacy, I created a graphic organizer for students to complete. Great for creating a gallery of research.
There are two versions to choose from:

Printable PDF- students can complete and then color and personalize
-
Google Slides- Slides are embedded with the graphic organizer as the background and text boxes are in place to complete the research. Once all are completed, the presentation can be set up as a "virtual gallery."
Also included is an optional list of African American healthcare workers for students to choose from.
I have also created written and video instructions as an option for helping you present the lessons if needed.
