Description

This product is a great teaching strategy to have students understand the causes and impact of the Atlantic Slave Trade. The product includes a copy of the reading and a PowerPoint to guide you and the students through the TRTW (Talk, Read, Talk, Write) Strategy. The PowerPoint also includes a Warm-Up! For my fellow Texas Teachers this Activity covers TEKS 7C, 1D, 4I, 21C.

How this activity works:

Students will begin with analyzing a quote. Then they will start by looking at painting and analyze it to understand the point the artist was attempting to make about the Slave Trade. Next they will read the article. After reading the article students will talk about what they read to gain a fuller understanding. Finally the students will write a paragraph on a question based off what they have learned.

I love this activity. The activity engages students and works well with all levels of students.

The product is a ZIP file and includes both a Word Doc (the article) and student worksheet to guide the TRTW process and the PowerPoint.

Thanks for looking!
