Description
This 8 page packet contains everything your students will need to complete a Document Based Activity on the Reconstruction Period following the Civil War. This activity asks students to examine several primary source excerpts and pictures from the Reconstruction Era in order to gain a better understanding of how Emancipation actually affected African Americans.
Specifically students will:
1) Read several primary sources and will answer critical thinking questions about each source to guide their understanding.
2) Examine several pictures/political cartoons and will answer critical thinking questions about each picture to guide their understanding.
3) Students will be asked to use evidence from the documents/pictures to respond to the following question:
"Explain how Emancipation affected the Social and Economic experience of African Americans immediately following the Civil War"
