The writing portion of the AP Art History exam is worth 50% of the overall exam score. Teaching the writing portion well is extremely important but also daunting. However, I LOVE teaching writing—which is why I created this resource to help newbie and veteran teachers out! This step-by-step guide on approaching the compare-and-contrast long essay question will give your students the foundation they need to succeed in this class.

I recommend teaching this after you teach the Palette of King Narmer, The Great Altar of Zeus and Athena, Augustus of Prima Porta, and the Column of Trajan.
