Description

Students will read 12 quotes in support of or in opposition to the Constitution and answer one question per quote. They will also identify if the quote supports or opposes the Constitution and will provide evidence from the text supporting their answer. Lastly, students will identify common threads between the support quotes, the oppose quotes, and they will analyze a political cartoon. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Explain the changes necessary for Patrick Henry to support the Constitution.
--Why does Singletree believe he and his peers will be swallowed up?
--Summarize the danger Hamilton sees in adding a Bill of Rights to the Constitution.
--Why was the ability to tax important to Thomas Jefferson and other Americans at the time?
