This is a perfect end of the year, back to school, math centers, summer camp, or summer school math activity to practice money management, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and rounding decimals.
Students will take part in a competition for the best fruit salad.
They will virtually go to the market to buy fruits to make their salad according to their budget and requirements.
Then they will decide on a salad name and draw their salad.

Worked well for a rotation station during our math boost time. I'm not sure how great tasting some of the salads would have been, but they got very close to the target budget creatively.

This was so helpful wrapping up a unit in 6th grade math and tied directly to the standards offering a real world scenario.
