Help students develop the phonemic awareness skills necessary to become strong readers. This presentation guides them through segmenting one syllable words into beginning sound (onset) and the remaining word (rime). This sets them up for the more challenging skill of changing that sound and replacing it with another sound to make a new word. You will find that activity on the following slide.
