Description

Many students can decode and read fluently but do not comprehend what they read. This series of visualizing and verbalizing activities will help them to break the reading language process apart and practice reading for meaning. In this product, you will find 40 Visualizing from Text Activities/Lessons. Use visualizing and verbalizing strategies to support student reading comprehension and language development.

Great for RTI, intervention, small group, enrichment, ESL, special education resource/supplemental instruction, autism, speech therapy.

These activities use visualization of sentences to engage students and strengthen their reading and language skills. This download includes 40 sentence activities, a structure word chart, and a "Good Readers..." mini-poster.

Directions:

  1. Students read the sentences at the top of the page and imagine a picture in their minds
  2. Students then use 9 structure words to write details of the image they "see"
  3. Students then draw a picture of what they imagine using their structure words details to support their drawings

I use these activities as a supplement to and in conjunction with the Lindamood Bell Reading Program. My students love these quick activities to practice text imagery.

Print in "scale to fit" or 94%.
